Summary

Six roses。 Six vials of blood。 Six visits to a vampire who could be her salvation… or her damnation。

Lilith has been dying since the day she was born。 But while she long ago came to terms with her own imminent death, the deaths of everyone she loves is an entirely different matter。 As her town slowly withers in the clutches of a mysterious god-cursed illness, she takes matters into her own hands。

Desperate to find a cure, Lilith strikes a bargain with the only thing the gods hate even more than her village: a vampire, Vale。 She offers him six roses in exchange for six vials of vampire blood–the one hope for her town’s salvation。

But when what begins as a simple transaction gradually becomes something more, Lilith is faced with a terrifying realization: It’s dangerous to wander into the clutches of a vampire… and in a place already suffering a god’s wrath, more dangerous still to fall in love with one。

Six Scorched Roses is a standalone fantasy romance novella set in the world of the Crowns of Nyaxia series, perfect for those who love dark, romantic tales with bite and fans of Sarah J。 Maas or Jennifer L。 Armentrout。

Dropped everything the moment the preorder appeared in my kindle and was NOT disappointed! Same world as Serpent and the Wings of Night, but a different (and just as enjoyable!) pace。 It’s always so interesting to see world-building from multiple perspectives, and I can’t wait to see how Lilith and Vale integrate with the main storyline。

All other reads are on hold until I finish this beauty that just dropped in my kindle!!!! 🎉🎉🎉

5 stars! Full review with quotes to come after I reread!I first read this book when it came out in the Flirting with Darkness anthology and adored the beautifully romantic slow burn between Lilith, a quiet, socially awkward scientist and Vale, a reclusive vampire general。 Set in the same world as the Crowns of Nyaxia series, this book is a must-read! Also, that COVER?!

Didn’t enjoy this as much as I hoped I would。 The format may be to blame; it felt rushed。 The writing felt a little blotchy at times。 Still, the author doesn’t disappoint, but I don’t feel like it lived up to Carissa’s other work。 It’s still a fun read, however, and I’m excited to see these characters return。

What about the nosy, vampire-hating town priests? And what about the growing chemistry between Lilith and Vale himself??For being so short, this story packs such an emotional punch。 Y’all know I would read Carissa’s grocery list at this point 😂 her writing style is gorgeous as ever and does not disappoint。 。。。more

This novella in Crown of Nyaxia’s world is so cute! Not only does it provide info for book 2 and presents new characters that we’ll meet there, but:- FMC is a neurospicy human scientist - MMC is an isolated former war general vampire- they strike a deal to try and save her people: roses in exchange for vials of his blood- it’s romantic and kind of sweetAnd again, I’m still apparently a vamp fan cause feathered-wing vampires with a soft heart make me weak in the knees… 🫠(This novella is coming ou This novella in Crown of Nyaxia’s world is so cute!
